Glen Ellyn Food Pantry Presents Old-Fashioned Telethon on Nov. 1
The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry will host a free online variety show benefitting its capital campaign Building Fund to transform its new home. Viewers will enjoy an old-fashioned community concert telethon featuring acts by local entertainers via Zoom on Sunday, Nov. 1 starting at 6:30 p.m.
Gavin Coyle, the renowned Irish pop and folk singer and musician, will be featured along with: Anima - Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus; the McNulty Irish Dancers; the Youth Puppet Team from the Village Green Baptist Church; One Voice Outreach Choir; and comedian Amy Sherman. Additionally, famed artist Geoff Bevington - who recently painted the 28 feet by 17 feet Frida Kahlo mural on the Olive N' Vinnie's building in downtown Glen Ellyn - will complete a painting during the Telethon which will be auctioned off via Zoom before the end of the event.
During the show, the Pantry will share news about its capital campaign which will expand hunger relief efforts in the community. More than $650,000 has been raised toward the $900,000 Capital Campaign goal. The goal is for viewers to be inspired to donate by calling phone lines staffed by volunteers, or by donating online.
While the audience can view the event for free, registration is highly recommended. Those interested can also donate directly to the building fund. And from Oct. 9 to Nov. 9, every dollar donated to the Pantry will be matched by a generous donor, up to $25,000.
