‘Will & Grace’ star Sean Hayes adds celebrity to Pantry Fundraiser
Sean Hayes will pick the winning ticket in a raffle for highly sought-after bottles of bourbon in a fundraiser for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry that closes Oct. 10.

Buy a Birdhouse to Benefit the Pantry at the Glen Ellyn Sidewalk Sale July 23-24
The famous Birdhouse Lady of Glen Ellyn is donating all proceeds of the sale of her amazing creations at the Pantry during the Glen Ellyn Sidewalk Sale on Friday, July 23 and Saturday, July 24 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. A Pantry volunteer has also donated a hand-carved wooden bench which will be raffled and then customized for the winner.
Fourth of July Parade Shopping Cart Brigade
The Pantry is partnering with Grace Lutheran Church to lead the shopping cart brigade during the Glen Ellyn parade on July 4. Residents can donate food during the Parade, or volunteer to be part of the brigade!


Volunteer for the Tour of Lake Ellyn Bike Race on July 17 to benefit Pantry
Looking for a fun activity this July? Volunteer at the Ray Whalen Builders Tour of Lake Ellyn (TOLE), part of the Intelligentsia Cup Cycling Series, on Saturday, July 17. Volunteer shifts are approximately two hours long and are scheduled throughout the day from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Bike racing knowledge is not required, but you must be at least 18 years of age.
Glen Ellyn Food Pantry Breaks Ground on New Home
The Pantry officially broke ground on May 12, on its new headquarters at 55 N. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn. The 100-year-old former parsonage of Faith Lutheran Church will be transformed to a full pantry and warehouse. The relocation from shared space inside Grace Lutheran Church where it was founded by a youth group in 1979, to a larger, dedicated building is necessary to support the growing number of neighbors who rely on the Pantry for groceries and services.


Exodus Partnership with Food Pantry Focuses on Refugees
When friends at First Presbyterian Church in Glen Ellyn approached the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry a year ago with an opportunity to help provide groceries for refugee families, the Pantry jumped at the chance. Today, more than 150 families are provided groceries once a month.

Share our Spirits: Celebrity Tequilas for Cinco de Mayo!
The Pantry’s official “spirits expert,” Patrick Brophy, is back for a special zoom event slated for Friday, May 7 at 7 p.m. In honor of the celebration of Cinco de Mayo that week, Patrick will be guiding attendees through tequilas developed by celebrities! Will it be George Clooney, the Rock, Jimmy Buffet, Michael Jordan, the Chainsmokers or?? Only Patrick knows! The Zoom will also feature margarita and other tequila recipes! All proceeds from your $200 kit (enough for two participants) will benefit the Pantry. This one will sell-out early so register today!

BOMB MOMS TO HOST FUNDRAISER AT ENCHANTMENTS
The Glen Ellyn chapter of Bomb Moms, whose mission is to have fun and give back, will host a fundraiser for the Pantry on Thursday, April 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Enchantments, 534 Crescent Blvd., Glen Ellyn. Snacks and beverages from Nobel House will be provided and 20% of sales of Enchantment’s “latest designer trends with a twist” will go to the Pantry.

Main St., Glen Ellyn, is graciously donating 20% of sales to the Pantry during a shopping event on Thursday, May 6 from 5 to 9 p.m.! Specialty spirits expert, Patrick Brophy, will host a fundraiser to benefit the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. By popular demand after the January Bourbon/Whiskey event, the focus will be on Scotch. Participants will be guided through a tasting via Zoom starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 26. Cost is $200 per Zoom and participants can pick up their beverage samples and accoutrements – enough for 2 participants - in advance at the Pantry. Space is limited to 20 Zooms, so register early to reserve your spot. All proceeds will benefit the Pantry.


Glen Ellyn Family Feast Program Includes Pantry Food Drive
The Glen Ellyn Chamber of Commerce announces “Glen Ellyn’s Featured Family Feasts,” a restaurant meal program that will offer a calendar of complete dinners from local restaurants that will feed a family of 4- 6. Each day of February will feature a different meal from a Glen Ellyn restaurant. While picking up their feasts at the restaurant, residents can drop off much-needed cans of food which will be donated to the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. Check out the schedule HERE.
El Famous Bowls Over the Pantry Feb. 1-7
The biggest game will pit the El Famous Burrito Lombard restaurant against the El Famous Burrito Glendale Heights restaurant in a battle to collect the most food for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry! From February 1 – 7, customers who donate at least one can of food on your curbside, carry-out or dine-in order will score one free taco valued at up to $2.75. Buy a gift card at Fire + Wine in the month of December. Five percent of sales (up to $5,000) will be donated to the Pantry.


Glen Ellyn Food Pantry Presents Old-Fashioned Telethon on Nov. 1
The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry will host a free online variety show benefitting its capital campaign Building Fund to transform its new home. Viewers will enjoy an old-fashioned community concert telethon featuring acts by local entertainers via Zoom on Sunday, Nov. 1 starting at 6:30 p.m.
Gavin Coyle, the renowned Irish pop and folk singer and musician, will be featured along with: Anima - Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus; the McNulty Irish Dancers; the Youth Puppet Team from the Village Green Baptist Church; One Voice Outreach Choir; and comedian Amy Sherman. Additionally, famed artist Geoff Bevington - who recently painted the 28 feet by 17 feet Frida Kahlo mural on the Olive N' Vinnie's building in downtown Glen Ellyn - will complete a painting during the Telethon which will be auctioned off via Zoom before the end of the event.
During the show, the Pantry will share news about its capital campaign which will expand hunger relief efforts in the community. More than $650,000 has been raised toward the $900,000 Capital Campaign goal. The goal is for viewers to be inspired to donate by calling phone lines staffed by volunteers, or by donating online.
While the audience can view the event for free, registration is highly recommended. Those interested can also donate directly to the building fund. And from Oct. 9 to Nov. 9, every dollar donated to the Pantry will be matched by a generous donor, up to $25,000.
Virtual Wine & Cheese Tasting Benefits Glen Ellyn Food Pantry
Marche in Glen Ellyn’s lead cheese monger and assistant general manager, Steven Merkle, hosts an interactive session via Zoom on Nov. 12 from 7 to 8 p.m. Guests will be guided through tasting the featured menu of wine and cheese perfect for a Thanksgiving table. On class day participants pick up their package in advance - plenty for two people - containing two wines, three cheeses plus tasty accoutrements. Registration is required and $140 of the $200 fee benefits the Pantry.

CITRUS SALE TO BENEFIT THE PANTRY
For the 34th year, the Rotary Club of Glen Ellyn is selling citrus fruit to fund grants for local charitable organizations, including the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. Orders for oranges or grapefruits need to be placed by Nov. 20. Click here to download the order form.
Glen Ellyn Food Pantry Presents “Cars Under The Stars” Fundraiser
The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry will host a drive-in concert featuring award-winning jazz musician, Alfonso Ponticelli, in "Cars Under the Stars" on Friday, Oct. 9, from 7-9 p.m. Ponticelli, whose style is self-described as "classic gypsy jazz," has been featured at the legendary Green Mill Jazz Club in Chicago and has performed at opening night of Chicago's Millennium Park. He’ll appear live in the parking lot at Faith Lutheran Church, 41 N. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn.
